Back in 2016, I discovered a more playful and illustrative style to my work, when I started to create unique hand painted sailboats. They have given me a freedom to develop a bold colourful range of designs, that I continue to explore.
The sails are made from hardboard which is primed then painted in acrylic and indian ink, then finished with a light coat of satin varnish. I have designed my own maps of the Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex Coastlines, which appear on the back of every sail. To complete the boats I make the hulls using driftwood and reclaimed wood, most of which I have collected whilst beach combing the beautiful Norfolk coast.
